beautiful words...
In a angry mood I "copied" Rubens his:“four African people”. Indeed you see that I needed some confessed work rather difficult and also very nice. This in cause of my frustration.
I only did this once to prove that we really could paint as in former days. Because this work belongs up to a time. And even I try to belong up to my time (maybe some few years ahead).
In earlier times (1978) I made this work for lack of a canvas on the backside of a table-cloth four times larger than the original and only with 6 colours after two old photographs I found of this work.
( Not important is my doubt about the author of the work by doing this.)
My teacher; before its pronouncement already my preferred artist; was sitting struck dumb in front of the work with those beautiful words:" Rubens improved!"...I know it's impossible,
it's why I searched for that only unique form, my fumagine.
